Raquel + Filander | The West Events Wedding in Madeira Beach

Raquel + Filander are high school sweethearts, and their whole day was one big epic love story that was such an honor to document! They got married at The West Events venue in Madeira Beach. I loved shooting at this venue - it was right on the water so we got those beautiful oceanside portraits of the newlyweds…but they also had beautiful indoor spaces for the ceremony and reception.

These two lovebirds started off their day getting ready with their closest friends and family. There were some jitters in the air, but mostly just excitement that they were (FINALLY) getting married. You could tell everyone surrounding them was rooting for them, and it was the best energy!

Fun fact: I actually played soccer with Raquel in middle school & high school, so it was so full circle for me to see these two tie the knot!!

After they were ready for the day, Raquel did a first look with her father that was SO special and meaningful. And then the wedding started! Their ceremony space was indoors with beautiful, soft lighting and amazing florals to accentuate the space. Raquel actually did ALL the florals for the wedding herself. I was incredibly impressed. The ceremony was so much fun to photograph! Everyone was so happy when they finally said “I Do” and these high school sweethearts became husband and wife!!! Cue the party starting!!!

The reception space was set up quickly while I snuck away with the newlyweds to get portraits during golden hour. The West Events has such pretty backgrounds outside, so we started there before heading down to the water. Raquel and Filander were GLOWING. Nothing beats that “I JUST GOT MARRIED” vibe :)

Their reception was one for the books! Raquel’s florals filled up the space so beautifully, and they hosted an epic party for their friends and family. From the popping dance floor to the food truck at the end of the night- EVERYONE had a good time celebrating these two.
