Carly + TJ | Bermuda Run Wedding

Being a destination wedding photographer means that I get to shoot in really cool places like Bermuda Run, North Carolina. I have shot here a couple times, and I love every single time I get to go. There is something so nostalgic and rustic about the environment. The perfect wedding backdrop!

This was certainly the case for Carly + TJ! They booked me for engagement photos while they were on vacation in Florida, and we hit it off. They asked me to fly to NC for their wedding, and I was so honored to be there! (And I'm now shooting Carly's sister's wedding this coming September in Montana (almost exactly a year after Carly's wedding). SO excited!!)

I asked Carly to write a few notes about her & TJ’s love story, and this is what she had to say:

"We met on Bumble in the summer of 2018. We are old souls and continue to fall more in love every single day. We went on 10 dates in the first ~2 weeks of knowing each other because we couldn't get enough time together. We both lived in NE until I (Carly) matched at Wake Forest for my medical residency training. We then moved to NC together and got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2021. We are best friends and love adventures, especially cooking together, trying new foods, traveling, and being outside. We cannot wait to be married and look forward to a beautiful life together."

It was such a fun day at The Winmock at Kinderton in Bermuda Run. The weather was perfect, and the venue was the best match for their vibe. I loved getting all the detail shots there!

The got ready separately and opted not to do a first look before their ceremony. So when Carly walked down the aisle to meet her groom, his reaction was the first time seeing her. And while I love a good first look, there is something so romantic about that traditional moment as well.

We took newlywed portraits right after the ceremony & they were beaming! All those years moving across the country for each other and falling in love over new foods + traveling… culminated in one day where they became husband and wife. Gosh I love being a destination wedding photographer. This never gets old!!!

The reception was a PARTY in the true definition of the word. The large hall at The Winmock at Kinderton was transformed into a dinner & dancing haven for the guests. Everyone ate and danced, and danced some more. I love seeing family & friends gather around a bride and groom to shower them with joy on their big day. The live band was also amazing, and kept the energy high all evening.

The newlyweds opted to do a last solo dance, which is becoming more popular in wedding trends! I love it! It’s a quiet moment at the end of your day to take in what just happened and start your new lives together.
